Concrete driveways in Bunbury and the South West

Concrete driveway at a home in Bunbury

Clutch Construction builds concrete driveways in Bunbury and the South West of Western Australia. As a finishing specialist, we do more than pour a slab: you can have a honed surface or a liquid limestone finish on top.

How it works

A driveway that lasts starts underneath. We prepare and compact the base, set the formwork, and fix reinforcement. Concrete is then placed and finished, and control joints are cut so the slab cracks in planned lines rather than random ones. Then the finish is applied and sealed.

Finish options

  • A standard concrete finish for a plain, durable surface.
  • Honed concrete for a clean, matte look with good grip.
  • Liquid limestone for a natural limestone appearance.

Planning your driveway

Tell us the area, whether it is new or a replacement, and how it is used. A driveway that takes heavy vehicles or a caravan needs a different slab to one for a family car. Cracks, drainage and levels are better dealt with at the base stage than after the pour.

Replacing an old driveway usually means removing it first. We look at that when we quote.

If you also need a new house or shed slab, see house and shed foundations.

Before you start

Send us the address, the rough area and a photo of the site. We look at the fall for drainage, where the driveway meets the road and the garage, and what is there now. Those details decide the base, the joints and the quote, and they are cheaper to settle before the pour than after.

Common questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost?
It depends on the area, the site and the finish. A straight slab, a honed surface and liquid limestone all price differently, so we quote after seeing or hearing the details.
Can a driveway be honed or have a liquid limestone finish?
Yes. Honed concrete gives a clean matte surface, and liquid limestone gives a natural limestone look. We build the slab with the finish in mind.
Should a driveway be polished?
We do not recommend a glossy polish for driveways, because it can be slippery when wet. A honed surface gives more grip.
Do I need council approval?
The crossover, the section between the road and your boundary, usually has local council rules. Check with your council before work begins.
